J & A Wares

Another Form Of Grace

After graduating college in 2008, I moved from Boulder, Colorado to Washington, DC for a great job opportunity for my fiance (now husband). I had your average 9am-5pm job while he worked 7am-9pm six days a week. Without any friends or family around, I needed something to fill up my spare time each evening.

I started selling on etsy on a whim in February of 2009 and had a lot of success with my first store (Nomsa). So much success that seven months later after realizing that my job wasn't anything that I wanted to do anymore, I quit my job on a Tuesday, left for my destination wedding that Wednesday, married my wonderful husband that Saturday, honeymooned for that next week and became a full-time jewelry maker that following Monday.

Phew! It was a chance and we dove head first into it without any preparation but it has been so incredibly rewarding. Working for myself has allowed my husband and I the flexibility to travel all over for different jobs for him as well as let me turn a hobby into a full-time profession.

My husband is currently in his 3rd year of law school in Atlanta and during his studies, I have been the sole income earner thanks to etsy and the various boutiques which stock my items.

I have been a self-taught jewelry maker for the past four years and I love every minute of it. Making jewelry and expressing my creativity through sparkly jewels allows me to have 'another form of grace.'

I use only supplies that are the highest quality and you will see lots of sterling silver, 14K gold filled, Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, vintage czech glass, fancy gemstones and vintage lockets in my designs. I make only things that I want to wear and I hope you find something that catches your eye.
